Ecological Landscaping · Dundas, Ontario
Native plant design, ecological garden care, and biodiversity workshops for homeowners who want landscapes that look beautiful and actually work with nature.
"We acknowledge the relationship the land we call home has with nations that go beyond years that can be counted. We recognize the treaties that still govern these relations and strive to live responsibly on this land."Mother's Gardener
About Anne
Anne Pedersen spent a decade managing large-scale renewable energy projects for one of the world's largest wind turbine manufacturers, coordinating delivery and installation across North America. She understands complex systems, tight timelines, and how to make things work at scale.
Then she looked at her own front yard and realized the same engineering mind could serve a different purpose. The lawn was fine. It was also doing nothing, supporting no birds, no pollinators, no life beyond the mower.
Mother's Gardener grew from that realization. Anne now designs landscapes using Ontario native plants, building gardens that support pollinators, songbirds, and beneficial insects while looking striking from the sidewalk. She is also a dedicated advocate for changing municipal bylaws to support ecological gardening in urban spaces.
She is a mother of two boys and gardens the way she parents: with patience, a long view, and deep respect for what the land already knows how to do.

Every garden we touch increases biodiversity, supports local wildlife, and grows more beautiful year after year. We work with private homeowners, schools, NGOs, conservation authorities, and commercial properties.
From backyard meadows to formal front yards, we build the scope together to suit your needs and budget. Every design increases your landscape's ecological function and visual appeal, using native plants suited to your exact site conditions.
Restorative maintenance that keeps your perennial beds thriving and the biodiversity they support healthy. Flexible care programs tailored to the seasons and your garden's evolving needs.
For HOAs, garden clubs, classrooms, or a few friends around a kitchen table. We tailor workshops to your audience and location, sharing what we've learned about gardening for biodiversity.
Looking for native plants for your area? We carry species suited to Ontario conditions. We also give back through community projects that connect children and families with the land.
Getting Started
We welcome projects of all sizes and tailor both scope and price to each installation, from small urban plots to larger restoration sites.
We visit your property, assess light, soil, moisture, and existing conditions. You tell us what you want, and we listen.
You receive a site assessment report and a preliminary design mockup. We refine the plan together until it fits your vision and budget.
We install your garden and guide you through its first seasons. Native gardens strengthen over time, and so will yours.
Our Work
Ontario's urban landscapes are dominated by turf grass, which supports almost no wildlife. A single native flower bed can host dozens of pollinator species, feed migratory birds, filter stormwater, and build soil.
We believe cities can be richer habitats. We work alongside community groups, conservation authorities, and local advocates pushing for municipal bylaws that support ecological gardening.
